Data breach at Adobe

Date: 28.10.2019

Responsible body: Adobe

Type of data breach: 7.5 million data records accessible due to security breach

The US company Adobe offers various software products in the creative environment via the Creative Cloud. Among the best known are Photoshop and Premiere. On October 19, a security researcher from the USA used a database to obtain around 7.5 million records of users of the Creative Cloud. Adobe fixed the security vulnerability on the same day. At that time, external access without authentication had already been possible for a week. Adobe announced that no sensitive data such as credit card or account information was visible.

Categories of data: E-mail, listing of used products, member IDs

Practical tips:  It is advisable to be especially careful when communicating with Adobe at this time. Phishing e-mails may be coming up in the near future, and under no circumstances should personal data be disclosed in e-mail communications.
