The ECJ based its decision on the fact that the agreement does not provide effective protection of EU citizens' data from access by US intelligence services.<\/li>\n<li><strong>2016<\/strong>: The European Union (EU) and the United States (US) sign the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.robin-data.io\/en\/data-protection-and-data-security-academy\/wiki\/eu-us-privacy-shield\">Privacy Shield<\/a> Agreement. The agreement aims to allow data to flow between the EU and the US without affecting the data protection rights of EU citizens.<\/li>\n<li><strong>2015: <\/strong>The European Court of Justice declares Safe Harbor invalid.
